Day 56 , Kisumu to Nairobi , 350km. 26/06/2011

The scenary , was really stunning , rolling hills , lush green , flat topped thorn trees , tea plantations , & subsistance farming , of mainly maize.

Tea plantations , very neat  & well tended.

 More tea plantations.

Day 55 , Eldoret to Kisumu, 165km.

The very basic & run down chalet we stayed at on Lake Victoria called "Kisumu beach Resort" , all for 1000 Kenya shillings each for a bed , ( R80.00 each ) . Don't let the name fool you , I had visual of a white sandy beach , palm trees & beautiful facilities , on the contrary , it is the total opposite , no beach at all , stinky green poluted water & refuse lying every where , what a dissapointment, but the beds & linen was clean & we were tired.
 Tea plantations
The rift valley is at an altitude of 1200m @ Kisumu , the scenary was breath taking with with rolling lush green hills as far as you can see, with very comfortable riding weather.

New school teachers , outside a teachers training college having a dancing session , outside the college , at their main gate so the passing traffic could view & partake.

Day 54 , Eldoret , Kenya , Cheese factory tour

We went for a tour of a little country town cheese factory , it takes you back in time & back to the basics , We stasted some cheeses , had some yoghurt & their own ice cream .It was an interesting afternoon.

Seperating the cream & the butter milk.

In the cheese cold room where , for instance chedar is stored for 5 months, the chedar was my favorite.

Nancy , our tour guide wanted her pictrure taken.

Blocks of cheese lie in brine for a couple of days.

Day 53, Day spent in Eldoret , Kenya

This is 184 yarns , spun together, to create thicker , stronger fibres. We were invited by the director of "KEN KNIT (K) LTD. " , Mr Raj Shah to take a tour of his cotton mill factory in Eldoret , he employees 2000 staff . This is a familly owned business , with textile machines going back to the 1950's . Mr Raj Shah is also the owner of the "Nariberi" camp & resort where we stayed , I can highlly recommend it.

One of the weaving machines

People hard at work in the textile factory

This machines rewinds the rolls of yarn into a smoother roll , making the use there of more efficient.

The factory has its own machine , engineering shop where they make their own parts for the machines as parts are not readilly available due to the age of the machines.

Embroidery machine , one of the few computerised machines that embroiders about 20 items at a time. The factory makes most of the school jerseys for all the schools in Kenya.

Ladies hard @ work , that is Jennifer on the left smiling so broadlly , she wanted me to take a photo of her with her name. All the staff had a wonderfull friendlly attitude.
